Photo Hunt - Pointed

I decided to go for a different take on the theme, Pointed.

The Needles Rocks and Lighthouse, Isle of Wight

The needles is the island's most famous landmark. It is a row of three very distinct stacks of chalk that rise out of the sea off the western extremity of the Isle of Wight here in England.

The sea around the Needles was notorious for shipwrecks. Thus the lighthouse which was built in 1785. The current lighthouse was built during the 1850's.

That place is beautiful but very dangerous to ships.

Nice take.

It may be a 'different' kind of pointed, but wow...is it ever beautiful!!

Mine's shared.

That's pretty cool. Am I right to assume that the only way to get to the lighthouse is by boat?

Mahalo for visiting me at my blog.

This is a very interesting shot. This photo instinctively took me back to Peter Pan for some reason.

Thanks for sharing a place I will likely never get to visit and it's history. Those are very pointed rocks and a very pointed purpose for the lighthouse--to point the way for the ships to go (or not go).
