Lymington Quay

These photos were taken from Lymington Quay in Hampshire...

Lymington is a town with a wide variety of shops and I specially love the charming boutiques on the cobbled quay. The Georgian and Victorian architecture creates a quaint little town which draws visitors everyday.

cobble stone streets

I can just sit here for hours (whilst i munch on my fish & chips!) and enjoy the entertainment that the bustling harbour provides.

photo Hunt - Bright

It's that time of the week again, and today's theme is 'bright'.  My creativity eluded me this week so I resorted to these photos which were taken ages ago. I hope they do the trick, this is the first time I've taken pictures of fireworks...

(I took these photos last May 2007 when the cruise ship Liberty of the Seas made her first port of call in Southampton, on a promotional visit.)

Pre-digital...

These would probably what my gadgets would look like before everything became digital...

My hobby would probably be more expensive. But makes me wonder if photographs look better taken with a film camera; or photographers then were just better? (pre-photoshop era & only manipulated inside the dark room....)

what do you think?

Life in the UK exam

Anyone wishing to apply for permission to settle in the UK permanently (indefinite leave to remain), will need to show that they have enough knowledge of language and life here. After you have lived legally in the UK for 5 years you may be able to apply to live here permanently, depending on the type of visa that you have. But first you need to pass the Life in the UK exam.

The exam consists of 24 questions which you need to finish within 45 minutes. The passing score is 18 (75%). It is fairly easy as long as you've read the recommended handbook.  Anyone needing to know more about this can visit their website:

We passed the exam last Friday, hoorah! (it was good because all of us who took the test that time passed). Now that's out of the way, we just have to wait for October then we can finally submit the application. (We can only hope that no changes to the policy takes effect before then). Whew... hard work? A bit, yes... Worth it? Definitely!

Photo Hunt - Water

Swallow Falls

This waterfall on the Afon Llugwy is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Wales. Situated next to the A5 road between Capel Curig and Betws-y-Coed. Best viewed after heavy rain when the Lugwy river rushes down from the mountains and cascades over the weather-scarred rocks. Simply spectacular!

The flowers & the bees

The last of my Bournemouth series:

this cute puppy named "bubbah" cried the whole time especially when someone walked in front of him. He was left outside while his owners had lunch in the restaurant (no dogs allowed, i'm afraid), i just have to take his photo...

I've never taken a photo of bees before because I don't own a macro lens.  But when we were asked to wait outside the restaurant for 20 minutes for our table, I got bored so I took out my camera and took these photos...

Bournemouth Beach 3

It was a good day, sunny but a bit chilly and the water was cold. The beach was not crowded - so it was perfect for taking photos.

Further along the beach I stopped to watch theses guys play frisbee, they were really good...
